Unicenter Shopping Center in Buenos Aires Reopens After Flooding

The Unicenter shopping mall issued a statement confirming that after the flooding caused by the surprising storm, the mall will remain open until this Wednesday for those who need to buy Christmas gifts.

On Tuesday, on the eve of the holidays, the City of Buenos Aires and surrounding areas were hit by a storm that caused severe flooding. One of the affected locations was the Unicenter shopping mall, located in Martínez.

Viral videos on social media show the heavy rain falling on the mall's roof, which caused the corridors to flood and, for several minutes, several stores and the food court were impacted.

Following the chaos, the mall's authorities released a statement, obtained by the Noticias Argentinas agency, explaining the current situation:

"After the review and conditioning tasks carried out over the last few hours, Unicenter opens its doors today at its scheduled time for December 24, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m."

"The mall is operating normally, with the majority of its stores operational. A few stores remain temporarily closed while the corresponding technical assessments are completed and they proceed with their reopening in the coming days," they detailed.

Finally, they indicated that all actions "are carried out prioritizing the safety of visitors, employees, and tenants".
